Finding friendly faces in Iran

JIANG Xun, one of my favorite Chinese writers once wrote: “Ask yourself what do you love instead of what to prepare before traveling.”

Visiting a place to see something or do something you love is the most exciting part of any journey. I think the people I met in Iran truly proved a nice memory that I will cherish throughout life.

The 14-day tour of the Islamic Republic explored the beauty of its people, culture and scenery. While we always expect pleasant surprises during travel, Iran is a rewarding destination that presented many such surprises.

Some people may see Iran through its exotic Persian culture, eye-catching mosques and bustling bazaars. But the genuine friendliness of Iranians is what impressed me most. For me, Iran is the family who picnicked on the bank of the Caspian Sea and happily shared a melon with us. Iran is the young couple who gave us a free ride and we listened to Ricky Martin songs together even though we speak different languages. Iran is the lovely cook who threw a pancake to me when I focused my camera on him.

This is Iran and this is why I love traveling.
