Focus on Shanghai domestic life
“AT Our Shanghai Home,” a photo exhibition featuring nearly 50 images by Xi Wenlei, is on display at Xuhui Art Museum through October 9.
Xi has been taking photographs of local people’s homes for the past decade. His pictures show private spaces and living conditions of ordinary people across Shanghai. These photos not only represent Xi’s humanistic vision, but also trace the development of the city.
Concurrent with the exhibition is a photo contest where local residents (both Chinese and foreign) can submit pictures from their own homes and family lives. A total of 50 winners will be awarded limited edition souvenirs from the show and have their pictures included in the “At Our Shanghai Homes” album.
Those interested in taking part in the contest can register through xuhuiart1413@126.com, the museum’s public WeChat account (“涓婃捣寰愭眹鑹烘湳棣”) or submit their works at the reception area on the first floor of the museum before September 17.
Photos should not only focus on people or pets, but offer a realistic depiction of home life. Winners will be announced on the museum’s public WeChat account on September 22.
