Foreigners support hotel ban on disposable items
A total of 81.5 percent of tourists outside Shanghai support new domestic garbage management regulations, which ban hotels in the city providing disposable items such as toothbrushes, combs, bath scrub sponges, razors, nail files and shoeshine pads, unless guests request them.
Eighty-two percent of respondents in the Ctrip survey said they would learn how to sort out garbage in advance and dump trash based on regulations before travel.
More than one third of interviewees said garbage sorting is not difficult, and only 18.4 percent said it was too complicated, while nearly 80 percent of respondents support a fine for randomly dumping garbage.
Travel agencies, such as Ctrip and Shanghai Spring Tour, are also guiding and assisting in tourists’ garbage dumping.
