A water lily exhibition has opened in late August and will run through September 18 at the Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang District.

It features about 300 varieties of water lilies from across the world, including some rare ones, in eight display areas.

Some are on display for the first time.

Some aquatic plants native to water towns in Jiangnan (the area south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River) are also featured.

A variety of science events such as lectures and forums are held during the exhibition.
