Winter beauty at Yellow Mountain
IF you’re willing to brave the sub-zero temperatures, winter is a great time to enjoy the breathtaking scenes and unique natural wonders of Yellow Mountain in east China’s Anhui Province.
In addition to the roiling cloud seas, blissful forests, fascinating rock formations and tranquil hot springs that make Yellow Mountain one of China’s top tourist destinations all year round, winter visitors will be blown away by its snow-capped peaks and shimmering ice-covered vistas.
Thanks to the opening of the Shanghai-Chuangshan high-speed railway in July, it now takes only five hours to get to this popular destination from Shanghai.
If you plan to visit Yellow Mountain before the end of March though, be warned: low temperatures can drop to nearly -20 degrees Celsius; so bring appropriate attire.
Here, Shanghai Daily photographer Zhang Suoqing shares several photos taken during his recent trip to this winter paradise.
