1 dead, 2 injured in separate accidents

A driver was killed and two cyclists injured in separate accidents on Monday night and yesterday, local police said.
A black Buick LaCrosse lost control yesterday afternoon and crashed into a down ramp of the Inner Ring Road in Yangpu District. The driver was killed instantly.
The car was running fast on the Zhongshan Road N2 when it suddenly swerved to its left after passing Siping Road. After knocking down several rails, it crashed into the ramp, said witnesses.
"Bang bang bang ... I heard several huge sounds and when I went out, the car was stuck under the ramp," said a security guard.
The car's body was severely damaged - the whole roof gone, the driver's seat destroyed. Although all the air bags were opened, the driver died before the ambulance came.
The cause was still under investigation, police said.
About 16 hours earlier, two cyclists were hit and injured in a three-car collision in the Pudong New Area.
One of the victims, surnamed Zhou, who was more seriously injured, had surgery for his leg and was in stable condition.
The driver who caused the accident was detained by the police.
The accident happened about 11pm on Monday, police said. A gray Buick Excelle allegedly rushed the red light at the intersection of Yanggao Road N. and Chengshan Road and was hit by a taxi coming from the left.
The taxi was then side-swiped by another car.
The Buick lost control and ran directly into a moped and a bicycle at the opposite side of the road.
