135 caught for evading fares
MORE than 135 ticketless travelers were caught by the Metro authorities during yesterday's rush hour at four key stations.
Commuters were caught jumping over the turnstiles or ducking under them to avoid paying fares.
The other tricks in play involved using senior citizen transport card and fake certificates.
The evaders were not only fined but their names entered into a black list linked to the city credit system, the authorities said. The maximum penalty on evaders is 50 yuan.
The credit system was introduced this year with the purpose of stamping out subway ticket evaders or those running red lights.
Those entered into the city credit system will find it difficult to get home or other loans, officials said. It could also hamper their chances of getting jobs in the city or even education.
Over 100,000 evaders had been caught last year and a total of 500,000 yuan recovered from them.
