18 injured as buses collide in Putuo

EIGHTEEN people were injured after two buses crashed yesterday on a wet road in Putuo District.
Two people aged about 60 had broken ribs while the other passengers received minor cuts and bruises to their heads, arms and legs.
The accident happened about 1pm when a No. 829 bus and a No. 738 bus hit each other at the intersection of Zhongshan Road N. and Guangxin Road. The No. 738 bus was making a left turn when the collision occurred.
The front of the No. 738 bus was destroyed while the left side of the No. 829 bus was badly damaged.
Passengers on both buses fell to the floor from the force of the collision and were wounded by shards of glass from shattered windows.
Twelve people on the No. 829 bus were injured while six were wounded on the other bus.
Passengers called police immediately and three ambulances rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.
The two with broken ribs remained in hospital for further observation while the others were discharged.
Traffic police are still investigating the case.
