1st Canada China International Film Festival to be held in Monteal this fall

THE first Canada China International Film Festival (CCIFF) will be held in Montreal, the official sister city of Shanghai this fall from September 16 to 19, it was announced at the ongoing Shanghai International Film and TV Festival.

Jean-François Lépine, director of Québec’s Government Offices in China Consul, Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai, said at the pre-launch event that Montreal is a city of cinema, and the success of Montreal World Film Festival has drawn filmmakers from around the world to the city, including many Chinese filmmakers.

“I’m very happy to support the upcoming CCIFF in Montreal, we are hoping to welcome the Chinese filmmakers and representatives and we wish the film festival a great success,” Lépine said.

The CCIFF will be consisted of several sections including film screening, Canada China Academy Film Award, Canada China co-production project pitch, entertainment technology summit, women’s voice in film and television forum and film technology exhibition.

Moreover, in honor of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada, the CCIFF, the China Film Archive and the National Film Board will launch a new component, Classic Movie Review, to pay homage the two countries’ respective classic movies.

The festival aims to promote the exchanges between Chinese and Canadian cinema, encouraging and facilitating cooperation among filmmakers in both countries. The film festival is recognized as one of the official activities of 2015-2016: The Year of People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges between Canada and China.

Canada China International Film Festival is hosted by non-profit organization Canada China Art-Tech (CCAT).
