2 workers die as truck crashes

TWO road-maintenance workers were killed yesterday after a truck crashed into an enclosed construction area on Huqingping Highway, Qingpu District, about 7am.
The truck driver, Wang Chunhui, 23, from Anhui Province, has been detained by police and the accident is believed to have been caused by fatigue as he had been driving all night. Police said the truck smashed through barriers into the construction area and hit the two workers. Both were aged in their 50s. One died at the scene and the other died after being taken to Qingpu Central Hospital.
