2.6m get the shots in Shanghai
A TOTAL of 2.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Shanghai by Sunday, as the city speeds up its inoculation program.
Around 882,000 people have had their second doses, while about 836,000 people got their first shots, the Shanghai Health Commission said yesterday.
The two-dose vaccine must be taken with a gap of at least 14 days. The service is not yet available for expatriates living in the city.
Shanghai is providing free vaccinations for people between the ages of 18 and 59, especially for transport, logistics and sanitation workers.
Companies, organizations and institutions can help their employees register for the vaccines. After registration, they can inform their staff of the time and place for taking the shots. People can also register on the “Jiankangyun” mobile app.
The commission said subdistricts will help residents, including the unemployed and the retired, register for the vaccination soon.
Currently, there are over 1,680 sites for groups from companies, 32 clinics for people traveling overseas and 18 vaccination teams going door to door.
