3 held after man killed
THREE men have been detained after a scalper was killed on Nanjing Pedestrian Mall on Tuesday, Huangpu District police said yesterday.
One of the suspects, surnamed Yao, also a scalper, had an argument with the victim surnamed Wang on Monday at Orient Shopping Center on Nanjing Road E.
The argument later evolved into a fight in a nearby lane, officers said.
Yao was injured in the fight and, according to police, returned to the department store the next day with the other two suspects, Chen and Zhu, in order to get revenge.
Wang was beaten and stabbed about 12:30pm on Tuesday afternoon on the first floor of the department store, witnesses said.
He was pronounced dead by doctors after being rushed to a hospital, police said.
The cause of the original dispute was still unclear.
Chen was caught by police while Yao and Zhu turned themselves in yesterday.
The case was still being investigated as of last night.
