4 workers hurt in parking ramp collapse

FOUR workers were injured after being hit by falling wooden boards and concrete at a construction site in Baoshan District yesterday.

The injured men were treated at a hospital and were in stable condition.

The accident happened about 4:30pm at the site, located at Wenshui Road and Dahua Road, which was described as a parking building for a future store.

The structure has seven floors, and the collapse happened between fifth and sixth floors, workers said.

Part of the parking ramp, supported by wooden as well as concrete structures, fell down and hit the workers beneath it, according to a witness.

The builder belongs to Longyuan Construction Group.

Local work safety authorities said they are investigating.

On Tuesday, one worker died and another was injured after scaffolding at a worker shaft collapsed at the intersection of Hubin and Jinan roads in Huangpu District, close to Xintiandi. The worker who was hurt had leg injuries.
