40,000 newlyweds to tie knot this holiday
MORE than 40,000 couples plan to get married in Shanghai during the National Day holidays – the most in three years.
Shanghai Wedding Trade Association estimated that the surge of newlyweds will continue from October until the end of the year, causing a boom for businesses such as restaurants, photographers and limousine hire companies, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
But costs will soar during the golden week holidays – a master of ceremonies will cost up to 10,000 yuan (US$1,465), the paper said. All banquet halls in restaurants and hotels have been fully booked for the week.
