5 parades every Expo day

THE World Expo will stage five parades with floats every day through the 184-day event, organizers said yesterday.
The parades will show off advanced technology and elements representing global culture and human history. A total of 23 floats and over 500 performers will participate.
They'll take three routes - one on the Puxi site and two in Pudong area - and are expected to be seen by 30 million people, 42 percent of the estimated 70 million visitors.
Each rendition of the parade which will unveil during the trial operation of the Expo next month lasts 60 to 70 minutes.
Yang Ying, general manager of the IDG World Expo China Shanghai Office, which is responsible for the parade project, said the parades will create the atmosphere of happiness.
