5,000 Jiao Tong University students to serve at Expo

SHANGHAI Jiao Tong University will send 5,000 students to the World Expo as the main force of the last batch of volunteers next month when a high tide of visitors is expected to arrive.
The students attended an oath-taking ceremony yesterday and pledged to do a good job to bring the voluntary service to a perfect ending. City officials witnessed their oath taking on their Minhang campus and gave them words of encouragement.
The Expo Operator plans to recruit an additional 1,000 to 1,200 volunteers in anticipation of big crowds as the world fair enters its last month.
The last batch of volunteers will mainly compose of those who have served as volunteers at Expo venues or the staff of government organizations. They will help visitors at the entrances during peak hours, officials said.
