58 Expo sponsors awarded by organizer

THE World Expo 2010 has received a total of 7 billion yuan (US$1.06 billion) in sponsorship from corporations from home and abroad, a senior Expo organizer said today.
The Expo has 58 corporate sponsors -- 13 global partners, 13 senior sponsors and 32 project sponsors. They are from different fields and provided either money or services for the Expo.
Big-name sponsors included General Motor, Siemens and Coca cola.
The Shanghai Expo had the largest number of sponsor money and corporate sponsors in the World Expo history, said Chen Xianjin, deputy director general of Expo bureau.
The bureau today granted awards to all the sponsor companies with gold awards for global partners, silver for senior sponsors and bronze for project sponsors.
The overall budget for Expo 2010 was 28.6 billion yuan. This breaks down to 18 billion yuan for venue construction and 10.6 billion yuan for operating costs during the six-month event that ended on October 31.
