5th grader dies mysteriously at school
A boy was found lying unconscious on the lawn of a primary school in Yangpu District last night and he was pronounced dead in a local hospital, police said.
The fifth-grader surnamed Xia was reported missing after he failed to get home after 5pm and his parents could not reach him by phone because a teacher had seized the boy's mobile phone, eastday.com reported.
Anxious parents and teachers looked for him everywhere and found him motionless on the lawn in front of a school building after 11pm. He was rushed to the Changhai Hospital and was pronounced dead there at midnight.
Someone close to the school said there was blood in the boy's mouth and he might have collapsed during an exhausting run.
Yangpu police confirmed the case but gave no details.
