5-vehicle pileup jams Xupu Bridge

A five-vehicle pileup occurred this morning on the Xupu Bridge over the Huangpu River, injuring one person, and a bus caught fire near the scene in a separate accident, Xinmin Evening News reported.
Witnesses said a van crashed into a truck and caused the pileup at about 7:30am. One person was injured in the leg and was sent to the hospital. The mishap snarled traffic on the bridge.
An hour later, a bus started to burn two or three kilometers away from the Xupu Bridge. The fire was put out half an hour later and no one was hurt.
Police are still investigating the causes of these two accidents, the paper said.
