87-year-old saved from 2nd-story fall by cop
AN 87-year-old woman was saved by a police officer when he caught her in his arms as she fell from her second-floor apartment in Zhabei District, police said yesterday.
Both the woman and the officer, Wang Hao, were thrown to the ground by the impact, but the officer was able to grab her as she fell on Sunday afternoon.
The woman, surnamed Zhou, was reported to be stable in the hospital last night with injuries to her waist. Wang had chest and arm injuries.
The heroism of the 41-year-old officer has earned him a new nickname - Brother Lifting.
Wang and another officer were on patrol at 6pm when he saw Zhou on top of her air conditioner on Baode Road. The situation "was urgent and dangerous" since the woman's intent was not clear, a police spokesperson said.
