AIDS fear led to killing
A SHANGHAI man, named as Zhang, who stabbed a colleague to death after having sex with a prostitute, surrendered to police three days after the killing, Baoshan District police said yesterday.
A man surnamed Wang was stabbed at the gate of a residential neighborhood in the district last Thursday. The location was visible from nearby shops but no one heard any screams or saw a struggle.
Police discovered that Wang had had dinner with five colleagues on Tongnan Road that night. Police could not contact one of them, Zhang, as he had turned off his mobile phone.
Police also found that one hour after Wang was killed, a relative of Zhang received text messages from him saying he was infected with AIDS and had killed Wang.
Police waited for Zhang at his home and office but on Sunday morning he surrendered to police in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.
Zhang said he had had sex with a prostitute in a hair salon, encouraged by the victim.
Days later Zhang did not feel well and became convinced he had contracted AIDS and grew angry with Wang. Zhang wanted to take revenge last Thursday but killed Wang accidentally, said investigator Jin Zhongzhi.
