Agreeing On What's Hot

WEATHER authorities said yesterday that they would create a new heat-wave alert system during the World Expo period to meet the varying sensitivities of visitors from all over the world.

Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said people from different countries experience the same weather differently; what's needed are heat alerts that everyone can understand.

In China, for example, a high-temperature day is 35 degrees Celsius. In India, it's a day above 40 degrees.

Details of the new system have not been released yet.
