Air New Zealand launches direct Shanghai-Auckland flights

AIR New Zealand opened daily direct flights today between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Auckland.

The Shanghai flight takes off at 2:15pm and arrives in Auckland at 6:50am the next day. The return flight leaves Auckland at 11:40pm and lands in Pudong at 7:10am. Boeing 777-200 aircrafts will be used on the route.

Passengers can also transfer to other New Zealand cities from Auckland as well as Australia, Tahiti Island, Fiji and other southwest Pacific islands.

The airline launched a Hobbit-themed aircraft in celebration of the much anticipated release of the Peter Jackson film "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" last month, exciting fans around the world.

Air New Zealand chief executive Rob Fyfe said another Hobbit-inspired Boeing 777 would be unveiled ahead of the second Hobbit movie.
