A malfunction activated the air defense warning system in Shanghai's Pudong District around 10am this morning, local authorities said today.
Air raid sirens were heard in Pudong's Lujiazui, Huamu, Beicai, Sanlin and Hudong areas, they said.
The Pudong District Civil Defense Office said it has dispatched technicians to check the warning system and asked local residents not to get panic.
