Airports busy to send off stranded travelers
SHANGHAI'S air traffic returned to normal today as typhoon Haikui weakened to a tropical storm and headed inland, but there have been some flight delays.
More than 2,000 passengers who were stranded at the city's Pudong and Hongqiao airports left by noon, officials said.
The Pudong airport will handle 597 arriving flights and 575 departing flights today, while the numbers are 362 and 355 for the Hongqiao airport.
"Flight delays are expected to continue throughout the day and the two airports will see large crowds of passengers," the airport authority said today.
Major domestic airlines added flights to send off stranded passengers. China Eastern and Shanghai airlines both increased their number of flights.
