Ambulances with 5G are ready to roll
AMBULANCES equipped with 5G will serve the China International Import Expo, the Shanghai Health Commission said yesterday.
A 5G medical service platform will cover all ambulances attending the CIIE and designated hospitals. With this platform, ambulances can send data and conduct video calls with doctors while en route to hospitals.
Meanwhile, the city’s first batch of specialized ambulances for critically ill newborns was also announced.
Shanghai plans to equip a fleet of 26 new ambulances especially for the transport of critically ill newborns. The first six are available at the Shanghai Medical Emergency Center, which is in charge of patient transport downtown. Another 20 for outlying districts will be available before year-end.
“Previously, critical-condition infants were just carried by ordinary ambulances using an incubator,” said Ding Weidong from the center. “We consulted specialists from leading pediatric hospitals to purchase equipment and order vehicles specially designed for critical newborn baby transportation.”
