Animated classic on way to Hong Kong
HONG Kong residents are expected to see the animated version of "Along the River During Qingming Festival," the spectacular exhibition shown at the China Pavilion, at home next month, Hong Kong authorities said yesterday in Shanghai.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Asia World-Expo from November 9 to 29, and about 600,000 tickets will be offered to the public, each priced at HK$10 (US$1.30), said an official with the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Measuring 120m long and 6m high, the projection is 30 times the size of the original scroll, created by Zhang Zeduan, an artist from the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279). It captures the daily life of people in the capital at that time and reveals the lifestyle of all levels of society from rich to poor as well as different economic activities in rural areas and the city.
The Hong Kong Week will start on Monday at the Expo, with a special float parade across the 3.28 square-kilometer area every day until next Friday. A huge book, standing 3.5m high and measuring 5.5m in length, will appear in the parade and show visitors Hong Kong's business development, environmental protection, the city's vitality and other aspects.
