Apple shoppers complain of Peeping Toms
WOMEN have been warned to beware of wearing short skirts in the new Apple Store in Pudong New Area after a shopper complained a man ogled her while she climbed the transparent spiral staircase inside.
A young lady surnamed Lin complained that when she toured the Apple Store on July 10 on its opening day, a filthy-looking man stood at the bottom of the stairs looking upward, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
Lin said she thought that the man was just stunned by the astonishing design of the glass building but then realized his intent when she looked upward.
"It's embarrassing. You can easily see the underpants of young ladies who are walking upstairs with short skirts via the gaps between stairs," said Lin.
Lin said although the stairs were of frosted glass, men could still peek at girls through the gaps and transparent railings.
An Apple Store official surnamed Wu told the newspaper that several visitors had already complained about the problem.
Wu said all the company's flagship shops were designed with the same spiral stairs, and he promised that he would report the problem to his supervisor.
