Artist battles for life after fatal bus crash

ONE of the victims in a traffic accident that killed four people and injured five others near Huangshan Mountain in Anhui Province was transferred to a Shanghai hospital for treatment.

The bus carrying eight Shanghai amateur artists to the picturesque mountain was on the way back to the city when it plunged off the road around 3:30pm last Monday, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

The victim transferred to Changhai Hospital is surnamed Wang, the organizer of the painting trip.

His sister suggested the driver's fatigue may have caused the accident. There were no other vehicles on the road when the bus crashed and police found the bus was working normally before the accident, she cited police as saying.

Wang had organized a long trip in the morning before the return ride, which usually took five hours, his sister said.

Police are still investigating.
