Average salary of Shanghai employees up 9.5% in 2016

THE average monthly salary of Shanghai employees in 2016 was 6,504 yuan (US$944), a 9.5 percent increase compared to the previous year, Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said today.
The average monthly salary will be used as one part of the formula to calculate employees’ pensions, social insurance and other compensations, the authorities said.
The average annual salary of last year was 78,045 yuan.
In 2015, local employees earned an average of 5,939 yuan each month, which can be converted to a yearly salary of 71,268 yuan.
