Azerbaijan honors late president

THE Ambassador of Azerbaijan celebrated the 87th birthday of his country's late President Heydar Aliyev yesterday at the Azerbaijan Pavilion.
The activity reviewed Aliyev's lifetime, and wished for long friendship between China and Azerbaijan.
Born in 1923 and died in 2003, Aliyev was saluted for making contributions to the construction of his country, as well as developing a sound relationship between China and Azerbaijan.
He once visited China, in 1994, the year after he became president.
In their pavilion, the Azeri are showing examples of their culture and economic development. Through pictures and videos, the pavilion also highlights the country's role in connecting East and West, particularly by the Silk Road.
