THE East African Republic of Burundi celebrates its National Pavilion Day today.

Tambour Sacre du Burundi will perform the nation's famous traditional drum music and dance in Africa Square.

Burundi, in Africa's Great Lakes region, pursues sustainable development in the capital Bujumbura and rural areas. Its scenery and wildlife are renowned as it lies on Lake Tanganyika.

The gifts of nature and people's handicrafts illustrate the pavilion theme "Co-existence and Interaction between Man and Nature."

The pavilion displays farm and fishery products, traditional medicines, industrial goods and handicrafts.

Burundi's world-famous drum artists and renowned dancers in traditional costumes will perform on the day. Burundian food and drinks will be served, including local coffee, tea and fish from Lake Tanganyika.
