Better protection by law for locals with first-aid skills when they offer helping hands on street
Citizens with first-aid skills will be protected by law when they offer first-aid services to patients on street, according to a draft law submitted to the Shanghai People’s Congress today.
Under the planned new legislation, the government will compensate if the emergent medical services offered by qualified personnel caused any harm to the patients.
The emergent social first-aid services can let patients receive proper medical cares before the professionals arrived, said Shen Xiaochu, director of Shanghai Health and Family Planning Commission.
“Those trained citizens with first aid skills should encouraged helping others,” Shen told local legislators.
