A WORKER died in a fire yesterday at a waste diesel factory in Baoshan District.
The victim, surnamed Zhang, was a 22-year-old from Hubei Province. The cause of the fire was still under investigation, according to a TV report last night.
The fire occurred about 9:20am when the factory was processing waste diesel. The fire was put out by firefighters, who found Zhang's burned body in the factory.
It was the second fatal fire this week following a blaze at a market in the Pudong New Area on Sunday night in which five people were killed and 14 others injured.
Also yesterday, two work shelters were burnt in Pudong and Putuo District. No one was injured.
Meanwhile, more than 700 cases of illegal fireworks were found in a logistic company's warehouse in Songjiang District. The warehouse is only about 50 square meters large. Officials said it created a potential fire hazard.
