Botanical gardens ink cooperation agreement

Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang District and Royal Botanic Gardens Kew in London have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The two sides will work together on plant conservation, garden landscaping, education and talent training.

Royal Botanic Gardens Kew is considered a global resource for plant and fungal knowledge. It has one of the largest and most diverse plant and fungal collections in the world, and has extensive research partnerships in China in areas such as traditional medicine, plant conservation, and research into useful plants and habitat restoration.

A lecture on "How plants impact our lives - the economic value and conservation of plants" was delivered to mark the occasion.

Nearly 1,000 cherry trees along with some magnolia trees are now flowering at Chenshan Botanical Garden. More than 60 species of cherry trees are in the park.
