Boy, left alone, falls 11 stories and dies
A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy died when he was left at home alone and he fell to the ground from his 11th-floor apartment yesterday morning in Baoshan District.
It is believed he climbed up to the kitchen window and fell out. His grandmother had just left to go grocery shopping when the accident happened about 11am at their residential complex on Aihui Road.
A cleaner said he heard a loud bang. He was surprised to find a boy lying on the ground and shouted, "Whose boy fell downstairs?"
A security guard called for an ambulance.
The boy's grandmother was still within the complex when the boy fell. She was attracted by a crowd of people and went over, only to discover that her grandson was lying in a pool of blood.
The boy died before paramedics arrived.
Police are still investigating the incident.
