Brawl over parking fee leaves 4 dead

FOUR people were hacked to death in a brawl over scooter parking fees last night in the city's Yangpu District, police said today.
Among the dead was the guard of a bike parking lot inside Lane 2100, Siping Road, where the fight happened at about 10pm, police said.
A local resident tried to park his scooter in the lot and he had an argument with the fee collector. Both men called their people to join in the fight, but it was unclear how many of them were involved, said He Xinying, a Yangpu police spokeswoman. She said the investigation was going on.
During the brawl, the scooter driver called up some relatives who were celebrating a child's birthday in a nearby house, some witnesses said.
The guard also called some helpers and the brawl turned violent, leaving four people killed on the spot, including the guard and the scooter driver.
