Bund stampede victim remains on life support

Three Bund stampede victims remain hospitalized after 46 other patients have been discharged, the city government announced today.

As of 8am today, one patient remains in a critical condition and another is in stable condition with serious injuries. The other patient is slightly injured and is expected to recover, Shanghai Municipal government spokesman Xu Wei told a press conference today.

The stampede on New Year’s Eve left 36 people dead and 49 others injured.

The critical patient was in a coma on a life support machine, Xu said.

Doctors have made home visits to the discharged victims to ensure they are doing well, he added.
