Bus driver stabbed in neck by passenger over noise

A man stabbed a bus driver over a dispute this morning at a bus terminal in Xuhui District.

The middle-aged driver, who was injured in his neck, underwent a surgery, a local hospital said.

Police said the suspect carrying a flick knife had been caught.

The stabbing happened around 11am at the terminal of Bus Route 909 on Qinzhou Road S.

The 42-year-old suspect surnamed Lin asked for a refund of his 2-yuan fare because he found the bus speakers too loud, police said.

Lin hit the driver in the neck after his request was rejected. The wounded driver struggled to walk to the bus dispatch room to call for help, witnesses said.

Lin was soon captured after police arrived.
