COVID tests at 2 varsities

Two city universities are carrying out nucleic acid tests among some faculty and students.

In an emergency notice released on Saturday, the Shanghai University of Engineering Science university said the tests are arranged according to requirements of the city’s pandemic control authorities.

Faculty members and students who have been to a canteen, certain classrooms and experiment rooms at certain times in the past week were required to take the tests at the square in front of the library and information center on its Songjiang campus. The faculty was also asked to bring along daily necessities for two days.

Shanghai reported three locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

It’s not the only university affected by the latest local COVID-19 outbreak. Fudan University’s Jiangwan Campus was put under lockdown on Thursday, with faculty and students tested thoroughly. With all results negative, the campus reopened on Saturday.

The Second School Affiliated to Fudan University also had faculty and students on both its New Jiangwan Campus and Handan Campus screened on Friday.
To cooperate with the epidemiological investigation and nucleic acid tests, students were stranded on campus until 6:30pm with negative results. Therefore, they had supper at school for the first time.
