Car collision kills 2, injures 2 in Songjiang
FLYING debris from a car collision hit a woman 30 meters away, killed her and injured two other men yesterday, Xinmin.cn reported.
The tragedy happened around 5pm yesterday in Songjiang District when a Shanghai-plate Chery car and a black Toyota sedan crashed at very high speeds on Shengang Road. The impact sent both cars drifting for some distance.
Both cars were mangled in the head-on collision and rescuers could not open their doors. Firefighters later pried open the Chery door and freed the woman on the front passenger seat. However, she already succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities of the Songjiang No. 1 People's Hospital confirmed that one woman died after she was fatally struck by flying debris from the collision. Two other men suffered head injuries which were not life-threatening.
Police are still looking into the cause of the accident.
