Car gang held

SIX people had been detained for stealing items from cars by dropping rivets on the road to puncture their tires, police said yesterday. The gang targeted luxury cars and then a member on a bicycle alerted the driver. When the driver stopped to change the tire the rest of the gang would grab any valuables inside. So far, police have confirmed at least 50 cases across the city involving items worth 400,000 yuan (US$59,000).
