QINGPU District police said yesterday that they have caught a gang of thieves and recovered 12 stolen cars as well as other goods worth over 2 million yuan (US$293,000).
Sixteen gang members have been involved in more than 50 thefts since 2008. A suspect was escorted back from Beijing yesterday, ending a year-long roundup of the gang. Police returned 11 cars to their owners but there are still more than 60 goods, such as car GPS systems, that have not been claimed.
