Cheated in taxi
A Japanese passenger was cheated out of more than 900 yuan (US$143) during a recent 1.6-kilometer ride in a suspected "cloned" taxi in the city.
The city taxi watchdog said yesterday it is still looking for the driver but has "difficulties locating the taxi" as the only clue so far was an invoice.
The taxi looked much like the licensed ones of the city taxi operator, which denied the taxi belongs to its fleet. "The invoice is our company's, but not the car plate number," said a manager with the operator.
