Chinese travelers warned of BA strike

AIR travelers to Britain during Christmas and New Year have been warned to change flights as British Airways' cabin crew announced a 12-day strike yesterday.

The walkout by 12,500 cabin crew between 22 December and 2 January will ground Heathrow airport's largest carrier, set to affect 1 million people globally. It will also affect 14 flights from Shanghai and Beijing respectively and 32 flights from Hong Kong, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

BA has warned its Chinese ticket agents and offered free flight changes for travelers. Those want to refund their tickets will still be charged.

Normally the firm charges 1,200 yuan (US$175) to change flights. A round ticket between Shanghai and Britain is around 4,500 yuan and a trip between Hong Kong and Britain is 5,500 yuan.
