Citizens urged to assist traffic authorities over road signs
The Shanghai government is inviting local residents to report traffic signs that they find misleading, worn out or improperly located.
The Shanghai Road Administration examined about 160,000 traffic signs citywide in the last six months. They found some of the roads still had wrong or old names, few others blocked by trees or other objects and some worn out due to lack of maintenance.
They posed threat to road safety, the administration said, adding that they had started rectifying them. So far 1,463 signs have been corrected or improved inside the Outer Ring Road area.
The administration is urging citizens to report any traffic signs that they feel needs corrected or improved. They can call and report it to hotline 12122.
