City offers green Expo transport card

SHANGHAI has issued a special transport card costing 40 yuan (US$5.85) to support the green and low-carbon World Expo 2010.
The Expo organizer yesterday issued 20,000 transport cards with half of the cost to be used to plant trees or support projects to reduce carbon dioxide emission.
People who buying the card will help reduce a ton of carbon dioxide emission to encounter emissions during construction of the Expo site.
Buyers can check which projects their cards support by typing in its number at the official Website, www.cleanair.net.cn.
The card shows a cartoon of Expo mascot Haibao, and the first batch will mainly be sold to companies and institutions.
