City's largest Japanese book center opens at Foreign Language Bookstore

THE city’s largest-ever Japanese book center was opened lately at the newly decorated fourth floor of Shanghai Foreign Language Bookstore.

The center, “Matsuzaka Shooku”, owns 25,000 imported Japanese books, covering ACG (Amine, Comic and Games), literature, fashion, lifestyle, travel, etc.

The center also includes an Animate flagship store – the largest Japanese retailer of anime, games and manga. According to bookstore manager Huang Bo, the new Japanese book and culture center has attracted a large number of visitors since the space was reopened last week.

“Shanghai has many ACG and Japanese culture followers. We named our Japanese book and culture center Matsuzaka Shooku and aimed at developing it into a popular local brand in the field,” said Huang.

Shanghai Foreign Language Bookstore, located on Fuzhou Road in Huangpu District, spent six month renovating its fourth floor. Besides Matsuzaka Shooku, there is also a new 300 square meters space for children’s books and related products on the same floor.
