City's public-interest micro film festival starts, taking lens at grassroots people
THE city's first public-interest micro film festival raised its curtain on Saturday.
The festival is co-organized by Shanghai Charity Foundation, Shanghai Film Group Corporation and Shanghai Film Performing Arts Association.
The jury panel headed by famous mainland director Guo Baochang also includes film actress Xi Meijuan, screenwriter Wang Liping and scholar Wang Yong.
"These movies which take lens at grassroots people and the disadvantaged group of the society are very meaningful and inspiring," said director Guo.
Celebrated film artist Qin Yi is also invited to be the festival's counselor.
Both domestic and foreign micro movies themed on helping others can apply for the festival through www.startimes.sh.cn.
Young talented directors will also be discovered and funded to make and release their own feature film in the future.
The festival's awards ceremony will be held on January 23. Outstanding micro movies will be honored in varied categories of directing, acting, music, cinematography. They are also expected to be displayed for the public.
