Clear, warm start for New Year
THE New Year's holiday starting on Friday will have a clear and warm start, as no rain is forecast for the week.
Weathermen said temperatures will remain stable between 1 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees in the three-day holiday from Friday through Sunday, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
Though showers are forecast in some suburbs on Friday night, it will not affect most people, weathermen said.
Yesterday, downtown Xujiahui area's lowest temperature was minus 0.3 degrees and suburban Fengxian District shivered at minus 4.2 degrees, the city's coldest reading.
Today's temperature is predicted to rise to 9 degrees.
